Free Online Teleprompter

A free online teleprompter for video, lectures, conference talks, YouTube scripts, podcasts and public speeches.

How to use it

Paste your script into the box and set the pace, either as words per minute or as a total duration.

Filling in one calculates the other based on the script length, and the resulting running time is shown next to the preview.

Font size and text width are set separately and have no effect on the timing.

Press play, and the prompter takes over the screen.

• Spacebar pauses and resumes.
• Mouse wheel moves through the script and carries on from wherever you stop. If you were paused, a button appears to take you back to the line you were on.
• R restarts from the top.
• Esc closes the prompter.

The script and the settings are stored in your browser and restored on your next visit. Nothing is sent to a server. The site can be installed from the browser and used offline.

Why I made this

I had a set of video lessons to record, and I wanted something to read from while I recorded them, so I went through the free teleprompters that were around at the time. They were all fine, but, to my surprise, not one of them got all the basics right. Half the time the thing I wanted was there but done carelessly, and the rest of the time it simply wasn't there. After a while, it seemed quicker to write my own than to keep working around theirs.

Once the videos were done, I took a domain and put it online for free, since I figured I couldn't be the only one who needed a tool like this. It's the same version I use. I update it whenever I feel like it.
